SUSTAINABILITY

Natural raw materials

More than 90% of the raw materials used to manufacture Coverlam tiles are of natural origin, with preference given to nearby suppliers, importing as little as possible to avoid CO2 emissions caused by transport.

It is also ensured that these raw materials come from sustainable mining operations and are of the highest quality, free of impurities. Furthermore, the compounds used in the manufacturing process contain a high percentage of recycled material.

Coverlam is completely free from all traces of volatile organic compounds (VOC). No VOCs will be emitted during use under any conditions of use.

The consumption of quarried raw materials in 3.5mm- and 5.6mm-thick tiles is two to three times lower than in similar products of standard thickness. The reduced thickness and weight means the number of square metres transported per trip is maximized, helping to reduce CO2 and NOX emissions.

ADVANTAGES

At Coverlam, we are committed to the environment. From the selection of raw materials to the manufacture of our ceramic products, we prioritise sustainability and eco-efficiency. We constantly work to reduce our environmental impact and promote responsible practices throughout our supply chain. Together, we are building a greener, more sustainable future.

01. ZERO WASTE

All the water used in the manufacturing process is recycled internally and reused in the production facilities, while guaranteeing that no elements that could impact the environment are discharged.

02. LOW PERCENTAGE OF RESPIRABLE CRYSTALLINE SILICA

Thanks to technological advances, Coverlam has managed to reduce the amount of silica in the composition of its tiles, without diminishing their performance. The silica content in in Coverlam Top countertops is currently less than 11%.

03. H&CTILES

The application of the H&CTiles treatment to Coverlam offers major environmental benefits. When used outdoors it helps to reduce environmental pollution and endows the tile with the ability to self-clean, while for indoor use it provides antibacterial properties

04. SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURE

Given its concern about sustainable architecture, Coverlam contributes to improving the energy efficiency of buildings by incorporating the new LEED standards throughout the life cycle of its products, from the design phase to final installation.
In addition, it provides the documents needed to confirm compliance with the requirements of the sustainability assessment system in construction projects (BREEAM®).

05. ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY ENERGY CONSUMPTION

Coverlam has a strategic plan for the use of energy. Thanks to this approach, there has been a gradual reduction in the amount of energy consumed, and the necessary actions are being taken to continue cutting energy consumption. All this is achieved, among other practices, thanks to a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) system, an Integrated Energy Management System and more efficient machinery that consumes less energy.

CERTIFICATES

Coverlam has various environmental certifications that allow us to identify, evaluate and minimise the impact of productive activity on the environment.
